Mango Matcha Smoothie Recipe: Creamy Tropical Green Drink

This Mango Matcha Smoothie blends ripe mango, banana, and orange juice into a tropical, creamy drink that’s full of antioxidants and vitamins. It’s an easy way to get a bright, energizing boost any time of day—perfect for breakfast, an afternoon pick-me-up, or a nourishing snack.

Mango Matcha Smoothie - full of antioxidants!

Matcha has become a popular alternative to green juice because it delivers concentrated nutrients and a gentle, sustained lift. A good smoothie can turn around a bad mood, steady blood sugar dips, and generally make the day feel a little brighter. This Mango Matcha Smoothie manages all of that while tasting refreshingly tropical.

In many blended drinks matcha is added for flavor and for its health benefits. In this version, yogurt is omitted in favor of orange juice, which gives a light, citrusy contrast to the mango and a naturally sweet base.

During warm months I like adding matcha to smoothies for an antioxidant and energy boost. It blends well with coconut, pineapple, and banana, and it pairs especially nicely with mango and orange for a clean, fruity flavor. If you enjoy matcha in other treats, you might also appreciate it in ice cream or muffins, where its green tea flavor and color shine.

What is Matcha?

Matcha is finely ground green tea leaves, traditionally stone-ground into a vibrant powder. Because you consume the entire leaf when you use matcha—rather than steeping and discarding the leaves—you take in a higher concentration of beneficial compounds, including powerful antioxidants and amino acids.

Health Benefits of Matcha:

Antioxidants: Matcha is rich in antioxidants, particularly catechins, which help protect cells from damage caused by environmental stressors. The antioxidant content of matcha is high compared with many common superfoods, and a small serving provides a potent dose compared with brewed green tea.

Vitamins & Minerals: Matcha contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, E, and K, along with minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, iron, and zinc.

Amino Acids: L-theanine, an amino acid found in matcha, promotes calm focused energy. It can help reduce stress while maintaining alertness and clarity.

Fiber: Because matcha uses the whole leaf, it contributes a modest amount of dietary fiber compared with steeped tea.

Metabolism & Energy: Catechins in matcha support fat oxidation and may increase calorie burning when combined with physical activity. Matcha also contains caffeine that releases slowly, providing steady energy without the abrupt crash associated with some stimulants.

What this adds up to: Improved focus and memory, a steadier mood and energy level, antioxidant protection, and support for healthy metabolism and immune function.

Incredibly rich, creamy, tropical, and packed with antioxidants, this Mango Matcha Smoothie is a delicious way to fuel your day.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and chopped
  • 2 ripe bananas, peeled and frozen
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons honey optional
  • 1 tablespoon matcha green tea powder

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender.
  • Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness with honey if desired. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Notes

If you want more greens, add a handful of baby spinach or kale—these blend well without overpowering the mango flavor. Blueberries or pineapple make a nice antioxidant boost and add flavor variety.

For a fuller meal replacement, add your favorite protein powder. If the smoothie is too thick, thin it with a splash more almond milk or orange juice.
