Location:
Tomorrowland Speedway is located in Tomorrowland at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. If you are entering Tomorrowland from Fantasyland, this is the first attraction you will see, making it easy to find while moving between the two areas of the park.
The ride generally operates from park opening until park closing. However, because it is an outdoor attraction, it may close temporarily during inclement weather. If rain or storms are in the forecast, it is a good idea to check the My Disney Experience app for the latest ride status before walking over.

Astro Orbiter – Astro Orbiter is a high-flying spinning attraction in Tomorrowland at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Guests ride in a two-person rocket ship and soar through space above the land.
Cool Ship – Cool Ship is a space-themed refreshment stand in Tomorrowland at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. It is a convenient place to grab snacks, ice cream, and drinks while exploring the area.
Lightning Lane:
Lightning Lane access is available for purchase for Tomorrowland Speedway through Disney’s Genie+. Guests can make selections using the My Disney Experience app, which is also useful for checking current wait times throughout the day.
The standby line for Tomorrowland Speedway can become fairly long, with an average wait time of around 30 minutes. Because this attraction is popular with families and young children, using Lightning Lane may be helpful if you want to reduce the amount of time spent waiting in line. This can be especially useful during busier times of day or when visiting with kids who are excited to ride.
Height And Age:
Racers must be at least 32 inches tall to ride Tomorrowland Speedway. As long as a child meets the height requirement, they can ride in the car and enjoy the driving experience. Depending on the child’s size and coordination, an adult may need to help press the gas pedal while the child steers.
Guests who are over 54 inches tall may drive a race car by themselves. This makes Tomorrowland Speedway a fun option for older kids who want to ride independently, as well as younger children who want to drive with an adult sitting beside them.
Handicapped Accessibility:
Tomorrowland Speedway is accessible for guests with disabilities, but riders must be able to transfer into the ride vehicle. Wheelchairs and ECVs can be brought to the ride entrance, and Disability Access Service, also known as DAS, is available for this attraction.
If someone in your group needs assistance, it is best to speak with a Cast Member at the entrance. They can explain the boarding process and help direct you to the correct area so your party knows what to expect before riding.
Ride Review:
Tomorrowland Speedway has been one of our oldest son’s favorite rides since he was first tall enough to experience it, and it has become a must-do for our family. We rarely visit Magic Kingdom without making time for this attraction.
The ride can be a little stop-and-go, especially when younger children are driving and still figuring out how to steer along the track. That is part of the charm, though. It is not a high-speed thrill ride, but it is a classic Disney experience that gives kids a chance to be in control and have fun behind the wheel.
Another nice thing about Tomorrowland Speedway is that the ride feels a bit longer than some other attractions. If your child is driving, it can also be a relaxing moment for parents to sit back, help when needed, and enjoy watching their child have a great time. For families with young kids, this is often one of those simple Magic Kingdom memories that stands out after the trip.
