I’m not great at motivating myself to do things I don’t want to do. Does that sound familiar? Whether it’s exercising, tidying up, or tackling chores I’ve put off, I’ll find any excuse to do something else—anything—from polishing my nails to reorganizing sticky notes.

But when I finally power through my list, I feel accomplished. And if I can get a good dinner on the table the same evening, I feel unstoppable. There’s something about ending a busy day with a satisfying meal that makes everything seem a little brighter.

Using a simple thin crust pizza dough and a handful of pantry staples, this BBQ ham and pineapple pizza comes together quickly and tastes delicious. The tangy barbecue base complements the salty ham and sweet pineapple, and the melted mozzarella ties everything together into a classic, crowd-pleasing pizza.

To be honest, I was lucky to snag two slices before my hungry husband finished the rest of the pie. It’s that kind of recipe—easy to make and easy to disappear fast.

This pizza is perfect for a lazy weekend or a hectic weeknight when you don’t have time for an elaborate dinner. I like a bold barbecue sauce as the base, but you can choose your favorite. Layer on the ham and pineapple, top with mozzarella, and bake until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

If you like a little brightness and texture, finish with sliced scallions before serving. For heat lovers, a drizzle of hot sauce is a great addition—hot sauce and pizza really are a match made in heaven.

BBQ Ham and Pineapple Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 ball pizza dough, enough for one 12-inch pizza
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce (or 4 frozen pizza sauce cubes, thawed)
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce, your favorite
  • 2 cups (16 oz.) mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 4–5 slices deli ham, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup pineapple chunks
  • 3 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough with a floured rolling pin. Gently stretch the dough with your hands and transfer it to a large baking sheet or pizza pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray or lightly oiled.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the pizza sauce and barbecue sauce until combined. Spread the sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge.
  4. Sprinkle 1 cup of the mozzarella over the sauce. Scatter the chopped ham and pineapple chunks across the pizza. Top with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella.
  5. Bake for 13–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown and the crust is crisp. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with sliced green onions.
  6. Slice and enjoy while hot.
